Remove Body Hair and Look Great at the Beach

Remove That Hair

Hair removal comes in all different forms. From completely painless to totally painful, from very cheap to super expensive and from permanent to brief lasting effects. With all of these many options, it's hard to decide which one is right for you.

Many men and women today are looking for ways to remove hair without much effort and pain. There are many modern methods of hair removal for you to consider. The one you choose of course will depend on how much time and money you have to invest to remove hair, as well as the level of pain you are willing to take. Some methods are painless, some methods take a great deal of time, and some methods can be painful, the choice is yours.

To help make this decision just read about some of the best methods to remove hair and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Shaving

Back hair removal with shaving is a little difficult and cannot be done without the assistance of another person. You will not be able to remove back hair yourself with shaving. Therefore, shaving might be hard if you do not have a willing assistant. But to shave other body part there is no need of another person help. Another problem with shaving is that you would have to take it to task about every two days or even sooner. Shaving is simply not a long-term method of hair removal.

The best method for applying hair removal cream is to wait until after a hot shower. The steam and hot water will loosen the hair follicle and actually have the effect of stretching it further past the layer of the skin than if the hair removal cream were applied to skin that is body-temperature.

Waxing

To remove back hair with waxing, you would again need assistance, you would likely have visit a salon or have someone help you, again it can not be done on your own. While you might be able to reach some other areas. Using wax to remove hair is an effective and longer lasting method of hair removal, however, it is also a painful method.

Laser Removal
Laser hair removal a is very popular method of hair removal with both men and women. Laser hair removal is something many men are choosing to do in today's world, simply because it is more effective and longer lasting than anything other form of treatment. A good thing about using laser to remove hair is that laser is great for larger areas, such as the back.

A distinct disadvantages of laser hair removal is that it is time consuming; it requires many treatments to become effective. Furthermore, laser hair removal is not for everyone, especially those with dark skin tones, tans, or those with light hair. It is also something that cannot be done at home, you must see a professional to have this method performed.

Creams, Lotions, and Sprays

For most people, hair removal creams are a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hair and can be used on any part of the body. Consisting of a texture similar to body lotion, hair removal creams are applied directly to the skin in the area of unwanted hair growth and are then wiped away only moments later. While not a permanent solution for hair removal, the effects of creams can last 4-5 days longer than shaving. If the hair removal cream is left on for too long, the user runs the risk of damaging and even scarring sensitive skin. Therefore, it is also advised that one purchase and use a cream that has a mineral oil component, as hair removal creams containing mineral oil tend to be less abrasive to the skin.

To remove hair with creams, lotions, and sprays, it is important to pick up a product that works well for the use and area that it is intended for. There are many different kinds of products that are geared towards specific areas of the body. The great thing about these methods is that they are pain free, can be done at home, and in some cases, can be done by yourself, without assistance from anyone else.

The bad thing about these methods is that they are not always effective. If you do succeed in hair removal, the results will not be long lasting, therefore, requiring frequent use.

My Experience with Laser Hair Removal of My Bikini Area at Lifetime Laser

I can't tell you how hard it is being a girl. First we have the hormonal issues, and then we have the standards we have to live by to please our mates. This includes many things, but the main thing I speak of is keeping our skin smooth and hairless. Shaving, waxing, bleaching, and tweezing are many of the methods used. Whatever we must do to get it done, we do it. Unfortunately, this gets rather tedious. No matter how often you do it, the hair just comes back faster and faster. I myself got rather irritated by this and decided to look into laser hair removal. I absolutely hate having any hair in my bikini area. Constant shaving and waxing was time consuming and painful.

I had heard that laser hair removal was permanent and worked quite well in the bikini area. I did my research and decided to go to Lifetime Laser of Texas located in Frisco, Texas. The technician there explained all aspects of laser hair removal and about the particular laser machine that she used.

First I will go over the laser machine that is used. Lifetime Laser in Frisco, Texas uses the Candela GentleLase Plus. The technician lovingly called it he Rolls-Royce of laser hair removal machines. It just so happens that Candela is the global leader in medical and anesthetic laser machines. The GentleLase Plus is made with an alexandrite laser that is quicker, safer, and less painful than other laser machines. Alexandrite laser machines have been proven to provide the best results as well. The GentleLase Plus has a high energy pulse that delivers the laser beam at a much faster rate than the more common ruby laser machines. It also has the patented Dynamic Cooling Device that provides less pain and more comfort. This machine has also been approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal.

Now I will explain how the laser works to remove your hair. Laser hair removal works by using a precisely calibrated laser beam. This laser beam targets the melanin (pigment) in a hair follicle. This process is called photothermolysis. It then heats the follicle thus destroying its ability to re-grow hair. The laser beam passes harmlessly through the skin, targeting the follicle, not your skin.

I found myself asking if I really wanted a laser pointing at my bikini area. I mean how safe is it and will it really work? I asked a lot of questions and the technician took a lot of time to explain everything to me in detail.

First off, it is very effective. However, it will take several treatments. It usually takes 5, but it can take several more depending on certain factors. These are: skin color, hair color, hair thickness, hormones, diet, medications and metabolism. An example, if you have particularly thick hair, it will take more treatments to get rid of it permanently. Also, if you have darker skin, it can take more treatments as well. The laser also does not work for light hair. So if you want grey, blonde, or red hair removed, you will have to stick to shaving, waxing, or plucking. Ouch!

There are some other precautions and issues that can inhibit the effectiveness of the laser. Certain antibiotics can cause skin tone changes when used while getting the laser treatment. You have to let the technician know of this or any other medications you may be on. Lucky for me, I am fearful of medication so I had nothing in my system when I got the procedure done. Another issue is you skin tone. You cannot tan the area that is to receive the laser hair removal. The laser targets dark pigmentation of your hair follicle. If your skin is dark, this can inhibit the effectiveness of the treatment. This means no trips to the tanning salons until the entire treatment phase is over.

Before my treatments were to begin, the technician told me that I had to shave the area clean. I was not allowed to wax, tweeze, pluck, or use depilatories until the entire treatment phase was over. This is because these hair removal methods damage the hair follicle itself and would inhibit the growth of the hair follicle, thus rendering the effectiveness of the treatment itself.

Now you may be wondering about the treatment sessions itself. I had my bikini area done. Each visit lasted about 7 minutes. The treatment times will vary depending on what area of the body you are having treated. You can get laser hair removal for your face, legs, back, bikini, or arm pits. The bigger the area is to be treated, the longer each session will take. Each treatment is spaced between 4 and 8 weeks apart. This is because of your hair's growth. Everyone's hair grows differently and over different periods of time. This is called the anagen stage or the growth phase.

This is where my favorite part about Lifetime Laser comes in. You see most laser hair removal facilities charge you $250 to $400 a treatment for the bikini area. If you need at least 5 treatments to get rid of most of your hair, this can cost at least $1250 to $2000. Most people need more than 5 treatments so this means it will cost you more. But this is not an issue with lifetime laser. My fee was $1300. I can get as many treatments as needed and I can come back for touch ups for the rest of my life. I have since had 5 treatments that spanned from July to October. I have not seen any hair return, but it has only been a month since my last treatment. But if I see any, I can go back and have the laser remove it. The technician said that my hair is thick so I will probably need at least 2 more treatments. I don't really mind because it doesn't cost me anything extra! Lifetime Laser guarantees that the hair will be permanently removed, even if it takes more sessions than normal.

If you are wondering if pain is an issue, well that depends on you. I have a very high tolerance for pain. But as it is, I can't say that it was very painful to begin with. Again there are various types of laser hair removal machines. The one used at Lifetime Laser is the most painless of them all. I did happen to have a more sensitive area treated. But it was still not very painful. I can describe it as a light burning sensation that quickly passed as the laser moved on. It sort of felt like a rubber band snapping on me or someone flicking me with their fingers. Afterwards, my skin may was red and a bit swollen. But this went away after two days. You can have a mild anesthetic placed on your skin before treatment if you are worried about pain. However, some people (including me) are allergic to it. It is best not to use it, and honestly, you won't need it. As for the redness and swollen skin afterwards, there is a product that the technician can give you to relieve that sooner. Unfortunately, I happened to be allergic to that as well. But it didn't matter because it was back to normal in two days!

A few days after the treatment, I noticed little black flecks on my skin. This was just the dead hair in the follicle falling out. The technician said to just massage it out with a wash rag and it should just come right off. It did. In no time at all, I had a bikini area that was as smooth as a babies butt!

I have to say that this was the best $1300 dollars I have ever spent. The results were amazing and I had no unexpected side effects! I feel in the long run, this procedure has saved me a lot of time and money that I would have spent waxing it every 5 seconds. Not to mention, men really appreciate the smooth and clean look of my bikini area!

Lifetime Laser also does facial rejuvenation, sun sot removal, age spot removal, and microdermabrasion.

Taking a Look at Laser Hair Removal Vs. Electrolysis Hair Removal

There are many options available to you when it comes to hair removal. As technology progresses they are coming up with new and less painful ways to get rid of unwanted hair. This is good news for those who need this type of treatment, however, choosing which method to go with can be a important and difficult decision. There are many factors that go into deciding which method is best for you, including pain, cost, time involved, and expected outcome. In this article we will look at the two main types of hair removal, laser and electrolysis, to help you choose if either of these methods are right for you.

One of the most important aspects of laser hair removal is its lasting effects. As of today, electrolysis is the only proven method for permanent and effective hair removal. If your main goal is for complete and lasting hair removal then this is the method that you should most consider. As it stands, laser hair removal can not only allow hair to grow back but can also only reduce it instead of completely removing it.

Laser procedures are known to reduce dark hair, mostly from light skinned individuals. There have been recent advances in laser hair removal technology that may make it effective on light hair as well, however it is still not clear how well this most recent technology works. One the other hand, electrolysis is great for getting rid of unwanted hair of any color. If you have dark skin electrolysis may be the best option for you anyway since utilizing laser technology does run the risk of discoloring skin pigmentation.

Electrolysis has been used as an effective permanent hair removal solution for many years. It has been tried, tested, and proven to work. This means that once you pay the money and go through the procedure that you will never have to worry about spending more time or money on it again. Laser technology is relatively new compared to electrolysis, so there are no long-term results to base any assessment on. We do know that it can cause damage and is not necessarily permanent.

Electrolysis and laser hair removal methods are based on two different technologies. With electrolysis metal shafts that are placed directly into each hair follicle that is to be treated. The follicle is then disabled and the hair falls out. With laser hair removal a beam of laser light goes through the skin and creates heat in the follicle which then disables it and the hair falls out.

Due to the types of methods used by each different technology, although they both somehow go under the skin to attack the follicle, electrolysis can be more invasive and painful than laser. However, you can expect some discomfort with any hair removal system and should ask your practitioner about pain relief methods available to you. If discomfort level is the biggest factor for you then laser would be the most appropriate choice.

There is an overwhelming difference between the amount of time that each procedure takes. For instance, an electrolysis treatment that takes between 2-12 hours, would only take 2-3 minutes if a laser were used instead. This is because to use electrolysis a metal shaft has to be placed in each follicle which, depending on the size if the treated area, could be an enormous amount. Even if you had to have ten laser treatments to achieve your desired result, it would still be hours quicker that electrolysis.

The amazing thing about electrolysis is that it is a one time deal. Once you have the procedure done you will never have to worry about hair appearing on the treated area again. This is a great advantage over laser hair removal which can sometimes require treatment upon treatment without the desired result ever being achieved. The smaller areas take on average 2-3 treatments to complete when using laser.

Deciding to utilize a hair removal treatment is an important choice that should not be taken lightly. You can choose between less risky yet more time consuming and painful treatments or more risky yet quicker and more comfortable treatments. Either way you need to make an informed decision that is right for your safety as well as your pocketbook and personal preference.

Laser Hair Removal

- Not always permanent
- Mainly for removing dark hair
- No long-term research
- Uses laser to pass through skin and heat follicle to disable
- A treatment takes minutes
- Less discomfort

Electrolysis Hair Removal

- Always permanent
- For removing any color of hair
- Used for many years
- Inserts metal shaft into follicle to disable
- A treatment takes hours
- More discomfort
