Remove Body Hair and Look Great at the Beach

Remove That Hair

Hair removal comes in all different forms. From completely painless to totally painful, from very cheap to super expensive and from permanent to brief lasting effects. With all of these many options, it's hard to decide which one is right for you.

Many men and women today are looking for ways to remove hair without much effort and pain. There are many modern methods of hair removal for you to consider. The one you choose of course will depend on how much time and money you have to invest to remove hair, as well as the level of pain you are willing to take. Some methods are painless, some methods take a great deal of time, and some methods can be painful, the choice is yours.

To help make this decision just read about some of the best methods to remove hair and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Shaving

Back hair removal with shaving is a little difficult and cannot be done without the assistance of another person. You will not be able to remove back hair yourself with shaving. Therefore, shaving might be hard if you do not have a willing assistant. But to shave other body part there is no need of another person help. Another problem with shaving is that you would have to take it to task about every two days or even sooner. Shaving is simply not a long-term method of hair removal.

The best method for applying hair removal cream is to wait until after a hot shower. The steam and hot water will loosen the hair follicle and actually have the effect of stretching it further past the layer of the skin than if the hair removal cream were applied to skin that is body-temperature.

Waxing

To remove back hair with waxing, you would again need assistance, you would likely have visit a salon or have someone help you, again it can not be done on your own. While you might be able to reach some other areas. Using wax to remove hair is an effective and longer lasting method of hair removal, however, it is also a painful method.

Laser Removal
Laser hair removal a is very popular method of hair removal with both men and women. Laser hair removal is something many men are choosing to do in today's world, simply because it is more effective and longer lasting than anything other form of treatment. A good thing about using laser to remove hair is that laser is great for larger areas, such as the back.

A distinct disadvantages of laser hair removal is that it is time consuming; it requires many treatments to become effective. Furthermore, laser hair removal is not for everyone, especially those with dark skin tones, tans, or those with light hair. It is also something that cannot be done at home, you must see a professional to have this method performed.

Creams, Lotions, and Sprays

For most people, hair removal creams are a safe and effective way to remove unwanted hair and can be used on any part of the body. Consisting of a texture similar to body lotion, hair removal creams are applied directly to the skin in the area of unwanted hair growth and are then wiped away only moments later. While not a permanent solution for hair removal, the effects of creams can last 4-5 days longer than shaving. If the hair removal cream is left on for too long, the user runs the risk of damaging and even scarring sensitive skin. Therefore, it is also advised that one purchase and use a cream that has a mineral oil component, as hair removal creams containing mineral oil tend to be less abrasive to the skin.

To remove hair with creams, lotions, and sprays, it is important to pick up a product that works well for the use and area that it is intended for. There are many different kinds of products that are geared towards specific areas of the body. The great thing about these methods is that they are pain free, can be done at home, and in some cases, can be done by yourself, without assistance from anyone else.

The bad thing about these methods is that they are not always effective. If you do succeed in hair removal, the results will not be long lasting, therefore, requiring frequent use.

My Experience with Laser Hair Removal of My Bikini Area at Lifetime Laser

I can't tell you how hard it is being a girl. First we have the hormonal issues, and then we have the standards we have to live by to please our mates. This includes many things, but the main thing I speak of is keeping our skin smooth and hairless. Shaving, waxing, bleaching, and tweezing are many of the methods used. Whatever we must do to get it done, we do it. Unfortunately, this gets rather tedious. No matter how often you do it, the hair just comes back faster and faster. I myself got rather irritated by this and decided to look into laser hair removal. I absolutely hate having any hair in my bikini area. Constant shaving and waxing was time consuming and painful.

I had heard that laser hair removal was permanent and worked quite well in the bikini area. I did my research and decided to go to Lifetime Laser of Texas located in Frisco, Texas. The technician there explained all aspects of laser hair removal and about the particular laser machine that she used.

First I will go over the laser machine that is used. Lifetime Laser in Frisco, Texas uses the Candela GentleLase Plus. The technician lovingly called it he Rolls-Royce of laser hair removal machines. It just so happens that Candela is the global leader in medical and anesthetic laser machines. The GentleLase Plus is made with an alexandrite laser that is quicker, safer, and less painful than other laser machines. Alexandrite laser machines have been proven to provide the best results as well. The GentleLase Plus has a high energy pulse that delivers the laser beam at a much faster rate than the more common ruby laser machines. It also has the patented Dynamic Cooling Device that provides less pain and more comfort. This machine has also been approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal.

Now I will explain how the laser works to remove your hair. Laser hair removal works by using a precisely calibrated laser beam. This laser beam targets the melanin (pigment) in a hair follicle. This process is called photothermolysis. It then heats the follicle thus destroying its ability to re-grow hair. The laser beam passes harmlessly through the skin, targeting the follicle, not your skin.

I found myself asking if I really wanted a laser pointing at my bikini area. I mean how safe is it and will it really work? I asked a lot of questions and the technician took a lot of time to explain everything to me in detail.

First off, it is very effective. However, it will take several treatments. It usually takes 5, but it can take several more depending on certain factors. These are: skin color, hair color, hair thickness, hormones, diet, medications and metabolism. An example, if you have particularly thick hair, it will take more treatments to get rid of it permanently. Also, if you have darker skin, it can take more treatments as well. The laser also does not work for light hair. So if you want grey, blonde, or red hair removed, you will have to stick to shaving, waxing, or plucking. Ouch!

There are some other precautions and issues that can inhibit the effectiveness of the laser. Certain antibiotics can cause skin tone changes when used while getting the laser treatment. You have to let the technician know of this or any other medications you may be on. Lucky for me, I am fearful of medication so I had nothing in my system when I got the procedure done. Another issue is you skin tone. You cannot tan the area that is to receive the laser hair removal. The laser targets dark pigmentation of your hair follicle. If your skin is dark, this can inhibit the effectiveness of the treatment. This means no trips to the tanning salons until the entire treatment phase is over.

Before my treatments were to begin, the technician told me that I had to shave the area clean. I was not allowed to wax, tweeze, pluck, or use depilatories until the entire treatment phase was over. This is because these hair removal methods damage the hair follicle itself and would inhibit the growth of the hair follicle, thus rendering the effectiveness of the treatment itself.

Now you may be wondering about the treatment sessions itself. I had my bikini area done. Each visit lasted about 7 minutes. The treatment times will vary depending on what area of the body you are having treated. You can get laser hair removal for your face, legs, back, bikini, or arm pits. The bigger the area is to be treated, the longer each session will take. Each treatment is spaced between 4 and 8 weeks apart. This is because of your hair's growth. Everyone's hair grows differently and over different periods of time. This is called the anagen stage or the growth phase.

This is where my favorite part about Lifetime Laser comes in. You see most laser hair removal facilities charge you $250 to $400 a treatment for the bikini area. If you need at least 5 treatments to get rid of most of your hair, this can cost at least $1250 to $2000. Most people need more than 5 treatments so this means it will cost you more. But this is not an issue with lifetime laser. My fee was $1300. I can get as many treatments as needed and I can come back for touch ups for the rest of my life. I have since had 5 treatments that spanned from July to October. I have not seen any hair return, but it has only been a month since my last treatment. But if I see any, I can go back and have the laser remove it. The technician said that my hair is thick so I will probably need at least 2 more treatments. I don't really mind because it doesn't cost me anything extra! Lifetime Laser guarantees that the hair will be permanently removed, even if it takes more sessions than normal.

If you are wondering if pain is an issue, well that depends on you. I have a very high tolerance for pain. But as it is, I can't say that it was very painful to begin with. Again there are various types of laser hair removal machines. The one used at Lifetime Laser is the most painless of them all. I did happen to have a more sensitive area treated. But it was still not very painful. I can describe it as a light burning sensation that quickly passed as the laser moved on. It sort of felt like a rubber band snapping on me or someone flicking me with their fingers. Afterwards, my skin may was red and a bit swollen. But this went away after two days. You can have a mild anesthetic placed on your skin before treatment if you are worried about pain. However, some people (including me) are allergic to it. It is best not to use it, and honestly, you won't need it. As for the redness and swollen skin afterwards, there is a product that the technician can give you to relieve that sooner. Unfortunately, I happened to be allergic to that as well. But it didn't matter because it was back to normal in two days!

A few days after the treatment, I noticed little black flecks on my skin. This was just the dead hair in the follicle falling out. The technician said to just massage it out with a wash rag and it should just come right off. It did. In no time at all, I had a bikini area that was as smooth as a babies butt!

I have to say that this was the best $1300 dollars I have ever spent. The results were amazing and I had no unexpected side effects! I feel in the long run, this procedure has saved me a lot of time and money that I would have spent waxing it every 5 seconds. Not to mention, men really appreciate the smooth and clean look of my bikini area!

Lifetime Laser also does facial rejuvenation, sun sot removal, age spot removal, and microdermabrasion.

Taking a Look at Laser Hair Removal Vs. Electrolysis Hair Removal

There are many options available to you when it comes to hair removal. As technology progresses they are coming up with new and less painful ways to get rid of unwanted hair. This is good news for those who need this type of treatment, however, choosing which method to go with can be a important and difficult decision. There are many factors that go into deciding which method is best for you, including pain, cost, time involved, and expected outcome. In this article we will look at the two main types of hair removal, laser and electrolysis, to help you choose if either of these methods are right for you.

One of the most important aspects of laser hair removal is its lasting effects. As of today, electrolysis is the only proven method for permanent and effective hair removal. If your main goal is for complete and lasting hair removal then this is the method that you should most consider. As it stands, laser hair removal can not only allow hair to grow back but can also only reduce it instead of completely removing it.

Laser procedures are known to reduce dark hair, mostly from light skinned individuals. There have been recent advances in laser hair removal technology that may make it effective on light hair as well, however it is still not clear how well this most recent technology works. One the other hand, electrolysis is great for getting rid of unwanted hair of any color. If you have dark skin electrolysis may be the best option for you anyway since utilizing laser technology does run the risk of discoloring skin pigmentation.

Electrolysis has been used as an effective permanent hair removal solution for many years. It has been tried, tested, and proven to work. This means that once you pay the money and go through the procedure that you will never have to worry about spending more time or money on it again. Laser technology is relatively new compared to electrolysis, so there are no long-term results to base any assessment on. We do know that it can cause damage and is not necessarily permanent.

Electrolysis and laser hair removal methods are based on two different technologies. With electrolysis metal shafts that are placed directly into each hair follicle that is to be treated. The follicle is then disabled and the hair falls out. With laser hair removal a beam of laser light goes through the skin and creates heat in the follicle which then disables it and the hair falls out.

Due to the types of methods used by each different technology, although they both somehow go under the skin to attack the follicle, electrolysis can be more invasive and painful than laser. However, you can expect some discomfort with any hair removal system and should ask your practitioner about pain relief methods available to you. If discomfort level is the biggest factor for you then laser would be the most appropriate choice.

There is an overwhelming difference between the amount of time that each procedure takes. For instance, an electrolysis treatment that takes between 2-12 hours, would only take 2-3 minutes if a laser were used instead. This is because to use electrolysis a metal shaft has to be placed in each follicle which, depending on the size if the treated area, could be an enormous amount. Even if you had to have ten laser treatments to achieve your desired result, it would still be hours quicker that electrolysis.

The amazing thing about electrolysis is that it is a one time deal. Once you have the procedure done you will never have to worry about hair appearing on the treated area again. This is a great advantage over laser hair removal which can sometimes require treatment upon treatment without the desired result ever being achieved. The smaller areas take on average 2-3 treatments to complete when using laser.

Deciding to utilize a hair removal treatment is an important choice that should not be taken lightly. You can choose between less risky yet more time consuming and painful treatments or more risky yet quicker and more comfortable treatments. Either way you need to make an informed decision that is right for your safety as well as your pocketbook and personal preference.

Laser Hair Removal

Unwanted Hair Removal For Men and Women

Laser hair removal came into commercial prominence back in the early 1990s. Its introduction offered men and women the opportunity to remove large amounts of unwanted hair relatively quickly and with the possibility of achieving long term results.

Laser hair removal works by passing laser energy through the skin to heat the hair follicle to a point that results in the follicle being disabled or destroyed. This is done without the surrounding skin being damaged.

A realistic end result of repeated laser treatments could produce what might reasonably be described as a permanent reduction in the amount of visible hair that you have.

In other words, the amount of unwanted hair decreases over time with repeated treatments and the hair that does grow back tends to be finer and visually less noticeable.

Referring to laser hair removal treatment as a permanent hair removal option is not a realistic statement since there are many individual factors that will help determine the success of your treatment.

At the end of the day, your personal situation (ie. the color of your hair, the shade of your skin, the amount of hair to be removed, the location of the hair to be removed, etc) will determine the long term success or lack thereof of your ability to achieve long term or even permanent hair reduction using laser treatment.

Also, the skill of the practitioner operating the laser is vitally important to your success and safety.

Laser Hair Removal What Is It

Laser hair removal has been around for sometime. It's considered to be one of the safest ways for permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal is a low-energy laser applied over the area of unwanted hair. Low-energy laser damages the hair follicles. The hair gets burned-out without damaging skin or any other tissues.

When laser hair removal is done professionally, there's a patch test first. This way you'll get the right laser and intensity. Don't let anybody treat you without doing patch test. One of the main benefits of laser hair removal is that it can be done on a large area of the body in one session. Procedure is little bit uncomfortable and many people experience little pain, but it doesn't require anesthesia. Local or topical anesthetic is usually applied if person experiences a higher degree of discomfort.

Treatment is very effective. After several sessions, about 95 percent of unwanted hair has been removed. One huge benefit of laser hair removal is that it doesn't require any medications, needles or follow-ups. You don't need to go to hospital either.

After laser hair removal session, skin might get little red where treatment was applied. It will not last longer than 24 hours. Unwanted hairs will fall off in 1-2 weeks after treatment.

If you have a darker skin color and you are having a skin-lightening procedure such as bleaching, read carefully. Bleaching procedure should be done before getting laser hair removal treatment. Remember that don't get laser hair removal within 10 days to two weeks after bleaching procedure.

If you want to boost effectiveness of laser hair removal, shave the unwanted hair couple days earlier before treatment. This way laser will have easier access to hair follicles.

Laser Hair Removal With Diode Laser

Shakespeares plays abound with references to bearded ladies. Indeed, a few centuries ago women, for that matter even men, who had to put up with unprecedented hair growth in embarrassingly obvious (and not so obvious) spots had to well, just put up with it. Women down the ages have tried everything, from shaving their arms and legs to threading, often with painful results and serious health consequences.

Ancient Egyptians prepared a mixture of bees wax and sugar to remove bodily hair. Hair removal was done with the intention of discouraging lice growth as well as for aesthetic purposes. In India as well as Arab countries threading of facial hair was considered the norm, aver archaeologists who have stumbled upon concrete evidence during excavations.

As a young girl I was quite self-conscious of the hair on my legs; the prevalent culture (persisting till date) dictating that hair visible on a girls body (except the head, of course) is a definite no-no. I recall a favorite aunt, a great scientific brain, who nevertheless became the laughing-stock in her neighborhood as she had facial hair. It is another matter that my aunt, who had made a great name for herself in the field of Physics, did not care and put up with all the barbs that came her way with stoic humor. But I am chicken! Well no, not really. I simply like to look good. Plus, it is such a nice, clean feeling not to have that annoying stubble on your arms and legs.

How well I remember the first waxing session just before the school prom. My best friend had taken me to the beauty salon hardly a yard away from my home. I had stared practically horror-struck at the boiling wax and the waxing strips. I can barely recall the number of times I winced and the number of times I stopped myself from screaming my lungs out. Yet I went back to the beauty salon again in the hope that repeated treatments would actually retard hair growth on the unwanted parts of my body. I even tried rubbing a wet pumice stone over my arms and legs having read somewhere that thats what girls in ancient India did. It was soooo painful! I stopped almost immediately after I had begun. One of my friends had shaved her legs with her fathers razor and the hair came back with atrocious force to the extent that her legs now resembled twin jungles!

To render hair removal more or less painless cosmetic companies came up with hair removal creams, gels and lotions which worked fine for a day or two. On the third day, the stubble would re-surge with the stubbornness and will power I had come to envy. So it was back to the waxing table and a monthly dose of painful treatment.

Another of my friends, in the meantime, also tried electrolysis which, unfortunately, damaged her skin. The ad had said it was a painless process which turned out to be bunkum, to use my indignant friends words. What is more, electrolysis did not work on large quantities of hair or bushy hair-growth. Add to that the pain and the tedium of the process.

I thought of going back to the waxing table yet again in despair of ever finding a permanent remedy for hair removal or reduction when I was told about a brand new treatment. This was the diode laser hair removal treatment which zeroes in on the pigment of the hair- chiefly the pigment located within the hair shaft and hair follicle. The pigment attracts the light emitted by the laser; it is the energy of this light which gets converted to heat. That is how the hair follicle gets decimated. The beauty of this treatment is that it covers a vast patch of the hairy area unlike other treatments like electrolysis which obliterate each hair follicle one by one. If all this sounds somewhat daunting and risky, dont worry. The diode laser treatment is both safe and painless. The laser gets switched on or pulsed for less than a second, which is long enough to render inoperative a single hair follicle. The cooling tip of the laser instrument is designed to render the hair removal experience painless or almost painless. What you get is a tingling feeling or a slight stinging sensation, especially when the more sensitive areas are being treated. After the treatment, some people could feel a sensation which comes after sunburn for a few hours.

And thats about all. As you will find out for yourself, the diode laser hair removal treatment is the best there is at the moment. Think of the freedom you stand to earn post-treatment no more expensive bleaching, painful waxing sessions, plucking and tweezing.

Why Doesnt Laser Hair Removal Always Permanently Remove Hair

Laser Hair Removal is now one of the most common ways to get rid of unwanted hair, and done right, can definitely provide permanent hair removal. But the capability of Laser Hair Removal is reliant upon numerous factors, including (i) the variety of laser being used, (ii) the color of your hair, (iii) the color / variety of your skin and (iv) the phase of the hair in the hair growth cycle.

Today there is at least 5 types of laser that are used for hair removal. Your skin type and you hair color will help to determine the most effective laser for you. And even if you get it all correct, you still might not be left with permanent hair removal in a short period of time. You see, the answer lies in the hair growth cycle, and more explicitly, what phase of the cycle your problem hair is in.... sounds baffling - it is !

Before we learn about the hair growth cycle, it is imperative to understand just how Laser Hair Removal really works. That is, to appreciate literally how you can accomplish permanent hair removal, acquiring an insight into the laser process is crucial.

The laser process doesn't actually physically remove the unwanted hair. The energy from the laser literally travels through the skin, and is drawn in by the pigment in the hair follicle and shaft. When this energy is drawn into a hair, the follicles are damaged, which then impairs that specific hairs capability to grow. Eventually the hair will fall out, usually within a matter of weeks.

Getting knowledge of how the laser operates is essential. You need to always remember that the laser doesn't just make the hair fall out on the spot. It actually impairs the capacity of a hair to grow, causing it to eventually fall out. Now that we have a brief understanding of how the laser performs, it is time to get an understanding of how the hair growth cycle affects the permanency of laser hair removal.

If the hair is in the wrong stage of the growth cycle, the laser might not provide permanent removal after a first treatment. You see, the hair growth cycle comprises three stages, and the permanent nature of Laser Hair Removal is more predictable when the hair is in one stage specifically - the growth stage.

A hair will go through 3 stages in its lifetime : (1) Active/Anagen (2) Regressive/Catagen (3) Resting/Telogen. Laser hair removal is more effectual in the Anagen stage where the hair contains the most pigment, and is most sensitive to the laser light. If the laser treatment is applied when the hair is in either of the 2 other stages, then the possibility of permanent hair removal is lesser.

Everyone's hair grows differently, and factors affecting hair growth include: age, weight, metabolism, hormones, genetics, medications and environmental influences. However, disregardful of how these factors act on individual hair growth, hair itself grows through three differing phases:

1. The ACTIVE or ANAGEN growth phase, consists of approximately 85 % of our body hair at any given moment in time and can last up to several years. During this stage, the hair shaft and follicle has an accumulation of pigment and is most affected by the laser light.

2. The REGRESSIVE or CATAGEN phase is the stage during which the hair stops growing but is not yet shed. This phase often lasts a few weeks comprising about 3 - 4% of our total body hair at any given moment in time. The laser will work in this stage, but if it is late in this part of the cycle, a new hair might already be coming through and the new hair will not be affected by the laser.

3. The RESTING or TELOGEN phase lasts 5 - 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and the new hair becomes visible. The new hair might not be affected by the laser because it will not have pigment in it yet, remembering that the laser actually relies on the pigment to find the hair. Approximately 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any one time.

Getting an appreciation of the hair growth cycle leads to the ultimate question, Is it possible to get permanent hair removal? The answer is Yes, Laser Hair Removal can certainly provide a level of permanence. As you can see, if a hair in the Active/Anagen stage is revealed to the laser, then that hair will most probably be killed permanently. If a hair that is in either of the other 2 stages is revealed to the laser, then that hair will most probably be killed, but the new hair coming through will still carry on growing.

So to get permanent removal of your unwanted hair, you will more than likely need a number of laser sessions. You could be lucky - your first Laser hair removal session will permanently remove all of your unwanted hair, but the expectation is that you will need a number of sessions at set intervals to ensure that you get to the hair when it is in the first stage of growth. And that's all there really is to know, permanent Laser Hair Removal is definitely realizable !

Laser Hair Removal For Men

Laser hair removal is mostly thought of as a female dominated procedure. However, that couldn't be further from the truth! Laser hair removal has become one of the top non-surgical cosmetic procedures for anyone under the age of 35, and that includes both men and women. For those that don't know how laser hair removal works, it is basically a process by which a laser targets the melanin (hair pigment) of the hair, and kills surrounding hair follicles by extreme heat. Laser hair removal for men is popular because it targets excessive hair on the chest, neck, face, back, and abdomen.

In the past, laser hair removal for men has mostly been attributed to athletes such as cyclists, swimmers, and bodybuilders who believe that excessive body hair can hold back their performance. This is just not the case anymore. Men from all walks of life are becoming interested in laser hair removal. There are many reasons for this, but for the most part men are paying more attention to their sex appeal. The fact is, most women don't find body hair attractive, and men are catching on. Treated in certain rouble spots, laser hair removal may induce a greater sense of confidence in men.

However, laser hair removal for men is not all about vanity. Occasionally men just want a cleaner, well groomed appearance - minus the hassles. Laser hair removal can greatly cut the amount of hair cuts a man requires over the course of a year just by getting the procedure done around the neckline. Another benefit is reducing the amount of scruff around the neck and chin area. For some men, this can be a huge blessing as the 5 O'clock shadow can come much sooner than 5 O'clock. Imagine how much time and frustration you could save if you remove that hair permanently?

What To Know About Laser Hair Removal

All of us have to deal with hair removal on an almost daily basis. Tired of shaving and waxing, many people turn to laser hair removal as an option. It's best to know however, exactly what laser hair removal is and what it does.

No doubt about it, shaving and waxing becomes a timely burden, and for many, constant shaving causes rashes and unsightly skin blemishes that don't go away. More and more Americans are seeking laser hair removal options to address the issue, though many don't have the slightest idea of how it works or what this procedure entails. With any service, find out as much as you can before hand, ask questions, and make sure you choose your service provider wisely.

Laser hair removal is a process that uses light energy designed to penetrate beneath the skin layer to a hair follicle. The light beam converts to energy during the process, which serves to injure the hair follicle in order to disable and halt hair growth. However, this process will only work on growing hair. It's good to know that hair and hair follicles grow at different times and cycles, so laser hair removal must be completed in stages to be effective.

Many people don't know what to expect when obtaining laser hair removal services. Generally, prior to the session, ointment or topical anesthesia or numbing creams are applied to the area to beforehand, but most patients find that the procedure is relatively painless and forego this. Depending on the size of the area requiring laser hair removal, the procedure can take anywhere between ten minute to an hour or longer.

Several different types of equipment are available today for laser hair removal procedures, but bear in mind that the FDA only approves these pieces of equipment to slow down hair growth, not permanently remove it. Sometimes, hair will re-grow in areas treated with laser hair removal treatments if the timing of the removal isn't correct. Before you choose laser hair removal treatment as an option, check your local providers and then check with the FDA to determine which types and models of laser treatment equipment is approved.

Following laser hair removal procedures, expect the affected area to be red or even swollen. Any discomfort can be alleviated with creams and ointments and while you are able to immediately return to daily activities, avoid sun exposure. Also realize that hair may appear in the areas recently treated, but this is dead hair being exposed. You may shave those hairs, but do avoid waxing and bleaching them. Despite a few unpleasant side effects, laser hair removal procedures are nearly pain free and safe. Some people may experience some blistering or reddening around the area, and some even experience some burning and mild scarring. Laser hair removal experts say these side effects are temporary and should go away within a short period of time, but as with any surgical procedure, including laser hair removal, weigh the pros and cons before deciding.

All There Is About Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is, technically speaking, epilation by laser or with the use of a special light. Besides the body, certain types of laser hair removal may safely be used to reduce facial hair as well. The laser (or light) of a particular wavelength is used to cause damage to dark elements in hair follicles. These elements are referred to as chromophores. They can be artificially produced or naturally occurring.

Today, most techniques target naturally occurring chromophores, in particular, melanin. Melanin gives colour to both hair and skin. Of the former, there are two types: eumelanin and pheomelanin. Eumelanin gives a brown or black colour. The latter gives a blonde or red colour. Since the dark matter in hair follicles are the target, only the former - darker - type of hair is suitable for this procedure.

While laser hair removal became a commercial cosmetic procedure about 10 years ago, it has been experimented with well before then. In fact, medical lasers have been used to remove dark spots, acne scars, other types of skin blemishes and even tattoos. The point about laser hair removal is that, it's not permanent. In fact, in countries like the U.S., the FDA prohibits the advertisement of FDA-approved laser treatments to be described as a method of permanent removal. Hence, use of the term permanent reduction or laser hair reduction to describe the procedure.

A more realistic description of laser hair removal is the permanent reduction of hair. It should be noted that, it's sometimes required to have multiple sessions of laser treatment over a certain period of time to achieve this goal. There is also no guarantee that ALL of the hair in the area treated will be reduced. To actually guarantee genuine permanent hair removal is to risk genuine scarring.

Ideally, the first thing the individual should do is to consult a qualified dermatologist. They should be able to advise on the suitability of the procedure. In any event, results will be most noticeable on light skinned individuals with dark hair. A lot more care will need to be taken, if the procedure is done on darker skinned and/or tanned individuals.

What you should be careful about

As noted above, one is well advised to avoid establishments that make false claims. The following are some of the more popular ones:

There is absolutely no pain or it's virtually painless. It is for many without needing any relief from the pain, but not for everyone.

The safe, permanent removal of hair. Again, the safe goal is hair reduction. Permanent removal is possible with scarring.

No re-growth of hair whatsoever. To date, there has been no real, genuine, qualified and objective evidence to support this claim.

It's laser electrolysis or lasertrolysis. Hair reduction via electrolysis is completely different from reduction via the use of a laser. Both have their pros and cons, in terms of suitability and effectiveness.

In the end, it's best to consult a qualified dermatologist first.

All About Laser Hair Removal

Are you tired of constantly shaving and dealing with unwanted hair on your body? If so, laser hair removal just might be the thing for you! Of course, there might be a better option for you. Some of those options might be shaving, bleaching, tweezing or waxing. Each of these has their ups and downs but might be better for you.

Laser hair removals work by the beams of light they produce. They apply the laser device to your skin causing it to get hot. This heat damages the follicle and keeps it from growing in the future.

One of the requirements for laser hair removal is that your hair is darker than your skin. Laser hair removal is also not recommended for naturally dark people because too much laser energy is absorbed into their skin. If you tan it also recommended you do not have laser hair removal done. You can wait until your tan is gone and then proceed.

If you have light skin you can expect an easier laser hair removal procedure as well as fewer treatments with quicker results. If you are darker skinned it could take longer for results to show and you will have more treatments. Each person is different when being treated for something just the same as being treated for laser hair removal.

Most areas of the body can be treated with laser hair removal. The most popular areas:

- Back
- Neck
- Legs
- Chest
- Bikini Line
- Face
- Underarms
- Upper Lip
- Abdomen

If you have a specific area you want done, talk to your local laser hair removal expert. If you are seriously considering laser hair removal you do not want to tan prior to having it done. The treatment will be less effective this way.

Laser hair removal is for women and men of all ages. Children can have it done granted they are old enough to cooperate. Laser hair removal is becoming more popular with men today. They are having their chests and backs done as well as their abdomen and sometimes face.

While laser hair removal is proven to be quite safe, there are still some cons to having the procedure. The main worry being who is giving you the treatment. If this person is not entirely qualified to perform this procedure, they could damage your skin. Be sure you know all about your professional performing this.

The cost of laser hair removal can be pricey but it really depends on your location. Every clinic is different so you want to contact a local clinic. Find out what their rates are and maybe even meet with a consultant to see if laser hair removal is right for you. You might think so just because you are tired of shaving. This may not be true though so it is better to consult a professional first.

As with any major procedure you might have done, do all your research on laser hair removal before making a final decision. If you do not get all the facts before committing to it, you might be disappointed in the end. You might not even be eligible for laser hair removal.

What Hair Removal Laser Is Right For Me

First of all, what is a laser?

A laser is a device that produces light of a single color or wavelength. In dermatology, these lasers produce pulses of high-energy light that is taken up by the desired target. In the case of hair removal, the target is the melanin pigment contained within the hair shaft. The tricky part of laser hair removal is targeting the hair shaft without damaging the melanin pigment in the surface of the skin. Thus the laser light has to be on long enough to heat the hair, but not too long to allow that heat to spread to the surrounding skin causing damage.

What laser is right for me?

The right laser for an individual patient depends upon the thickness of the hair and the patients skin type. Some lasers are faster than others, so for treating very large surface areas one may choose a laser that is able to treat large areas in a reasonable period of time.

In addition, if the hair on an individual patient becomes thinner and less dense following laser treatments, I often switch lasers to accommodate the change in the hair type and texture. There are a number of parameters that can be selected on a given laser. While each laser gives a unique color, or wavelength of light, other settings such as the energy, and how long the light stays on (the pulse duration) can be selected by the user. Because there are a number of settings which can be chosen during a treatment session, it is very important to have an experienced laser operater who understands how lasers work and the risks and benefits of various settings.

Is laser different for people with darker or tanned skin?

In my opinion, very dark skinned patients often do better with the Nd:YAG laser, while lighter skinned patients may respond better to the diode or alexandrite lasers.

Lasering people with dark skin is much more tricky than lasering people with light skin. However, the hair must be dark in order to be seen by the laser. Lasers are absorbed by the pigmentation in the hair shaft which produces heat that then results in inflammation which sends a signal to the hair to go into a long-term resting period. The ideal laser patient that would be easiest to treat and respond best would be someone with very light skin and dark hair. However, people have all different degrees of skin and hair pigmentation. The trick with laser hair removal is to avoid injuring the surface of the skin where the melanin pigment lives, while effecting the pigmentation in the hair shaft. The problem is, your skin and hair dont know whether they are supposed to absorb the laser light or not. Therefore, any dark pigmentation will absorb most forms of laser light. Certain lasers are somewhat less noticed by epidermal melanin pigment. The laser that is most commonly used on very dark skin would be the Nd:YAG laser. This laser has the longest wavelength of any of the hair removal lasers, and thus is less absorbed by melanin pigmentation over-all. Because is it less absorbed by the melanin pigment in the surface of the skin, it runs less of a risk of injuring the surface of the skin.

Its important that before any cosmetic procedure you contact your personal physician to discuss whether a particular treatment may be right for you. Make sure you consult your physician first prior to treatment.

Laser Hair Removal And Others

Fear no longer the ignominy of unwanted body hair. If you have been willing to walk should somebody show you the way, you have come to the right place for hair removal solutions. Here we present some of the popular hair removal solutions like laser hair removal among others which can offer you the flight of fantasy that you have been seeking for so long to become truly beautiful.

Laser hair removal: The latest technology in the long list of hair removal solutions, laser hair removal offers a easy to use, extremely effective method to get rid of unwanted body hair and is long lasting in its effect. Men and Women alike have benefited from this superb technology which promises unwanted hair removal from virtually any part of the human body. The principle of hair removal by laser is based on the fact that thermal agitation of the hair follicle and bulb under the skin causes the bulb to destabilize, break down and forego the capability of regeneration. Thus laser hair removal is precise and effective in hair removal.

Shaving: The most common and the oldest hair removal solution in the market today and world different from laser hair removal. Shaving is a self administered hair removal solution in daily use by both men and women for getting rid of body hair. The equipment required is low-tech : a shaving razor, brush and cream is all that you need. However the application is limited to only areas on your body that you can see and reach and is not definitely applicable for the tender areas on the human body. This is not a permanent hair removal solution as well.

Tweezing: Otherwise called plucking, this method involves using a pair of tweezers to pull the hair out of the skin to ensure hair removal. This method is particularly painful and suffers from the same drawbacks of shaving in terms of permanence of effect and areas of applicability. It is hard to imagine that laser hair removal and tweezing essentially are solutions to virtually the same problem.

Electrolysis: Before the onset of laser hair removal, electrolysis was widely touted as a very effective method for hair removal. Its different from hair removal by laser in the sense that, instead of a laser beam destabilizing the hair root, its an electric current that does the same job. This treatment also needs to be administered for a longer period of time as compared to laser hair removal and is definitely not for the faint hearted.

In our opinion amongst all the options of hair removal available in the market today, laser hair removal seems to be the most promising. Its just a matter of time before the technology becomes so prevalent that even for the unfortunate few for whom cost is a hurdle, it will be within reach of their financial boundaries!

The Best Hair Removal System Laser Hair Removal

Experts consider that the best hair removal system as on today is laser hair removal procedure. The first time lasers were used in dermatology in the mid 1960s. Some dermatologists noticed that while using laser treatment for tattoos and vascular lesions, there was hair loss in the adjacent tissue. This prompted dermatologists to carry out more research and experiments on laser hair removal devices. The initial laser hair removal devices targeted the individual follicles through a thin fiber optic probe. The present day laser hair removal devices use penlight type probe

FDA approved the laser hair removal device. Since 1995 the removal of unwanted hair with lasers has rapidly gained popularity. However this type of treatment is not suitable to all and it is important that a person who undergoes laser hair removal treatment should be aware of the procedure involved.

Laser Hair Removal Treatment Requirements: Laser hair removal is not suited for all persons. The following are the requirements:

1) The surrounding skin should be lighter than the hair.

2) Not suitable for people with dark skin, since dark skin absorbs more laser energy and is liable to be burnt.

3) Light hair is not suitable for laser hair removal treatment.

Cost: As a thumb rule, the larger the area undergoing laser hair removal the more will be the cost. Therefore it costs less to remove hair from the upper lip than from the leg or back. The cost also depends on the number of sessions. Typically around 4 sessions are required. However if you have darker skin, the number of sessions required will be more and people with darker skin will have to undergo treatment under an expert laser specialist. The usual cost for one session in the US is around $ 450.

Results: Results vary from person to person depending upon the type of skin. Laser hair removal is a long term hair removal system and not a permanent hair removal system. Most people get satisfactory results however a minority are not satisfied with the results.

Laser Hair Removal For Pubic Hair Is It The Right Solution For You

The laser pubic hair removal procedure is roughly the same for men and women; it consists on shining the pubic region with a high energy laser beam for a very short time. This energy is absorbed by the dark pigment present in the hair follicles, disabling their ability to grow and stopping them from becoming thicker. The laser beams attack pigments, so the lighter the skin, the less damaged it gets. However, the damage received in the skin is not permanent, even if the treated region is large. Removing pubic hair by laser doesn't normally cause pain, but just a little discomfort. If you have very delicate skin in your pubic region, you should consider using a mild topical anesthetic to reduce the discomfort, but it is generally unneeded.

Types of Laser Pubic Hair Removal

There are several types of laser hair removal methods available. For instance, many people decide to eliminate all of their pubic hair, while others decide to leave a tiny portion of hair, therefore performing a partial pubic hair removal. Whether it is a complete removal or a partial one, the mechanism of functioning is the same.

There are numerous types of lasers used to remove hair like Alexandrite laser, Nd:YAG, Pulsed diode array, Aragon laser and Ruby laser. Argon and Ruby lasers are not being used anymore because their wavelength is unsafe for the skin. Of all the lasers mentioned, the most effective one is the Alexandrite laser, but it is ineffective unless you have very light skin. The pulsed diode array laser is used for medium-colored skin while Nd:YAG is used for more tanned skin.

Pricing and Sessions Required for Laser Pubic Hair Removal

Laser hair removal professionals usually charge from $200 to $600 per session, although there are a couple of factors that will alter the exact prices. The number of sessions necessary to permanently stop hair growth depends on the skin color/hair color blend of the patient, being each session much more effective if the person has a very light skin and black or very dark brown hair. The closer to this blend, the fewer number of sessions needed. It takes roughly 4 sessions at a price of around $2000 to complete the whole process.

Laser Pubic Hair Removal Side Effects

A few minutes after each session, the treated skin area may become pink or even red. It feels like a mild sunburn and usually lasts for a couple of days. You may apply some topical cream to relieve the soreness. Moreover, you shouldn't expose the treated skin to the sun within 6 weeks of your sessions to prevent further skin damage to the already sensitive skin.

The Problem with Permanent Pubic Hair Removal...

The main advantage of laser hair removal can be a disadvantage depending on how you look at it. You will not be able to groom your pubic hair again because you will no longer have hair in your pubic region. Some people choose to keep only a small patch of pubic hair by choosing to remove pubic hair only on the bikini area and areas that will be exposed outside their skimpiest swimsuit or knickers.

If you can afford the expensive cost and the slight inconvenience, you will never have to shave or wax again! You will be able to say goodbye to razor bumps, pubic ingrown hairs and pubic pimples. However, please be 100% certain that this is what you want to do for there is no turning back once you permanently remove your pubic hair with laser.

Who Else Wants Smooth Skin And Less Hair

Laser Hair Removal can give you just what you desire. The longing for smooth skin not only fills an emotional need but also creates sensual feelings. It arouses.

The removal of unwanted facial and body hair has recently become one of the most demanded cosmetic enhancements in recent years. This holds true for the ladies, as well as, for a greater and greater number of gentlemen. Excessive facial and body, according to the current dictates of acceptable fashion, is a big fashion turn off and no-no.

And so, for a number of reasons including vanity, millions of women and men, spend millions of dollars each year on enhancements, including laser hair removal, as well as lotions and potions, that promise smooth, satiny skin free of ugly, excessive facial and body hair.

Laser hair removal is a speedier, more gentle way to dispatch unsightly hair, with awesome results. In some cases laser hair removal can be permanent.

Laser hair removal uses accurately controlled energy pulses, (electrical and light with cooling), reaching deep into the roots or base of the hair follicles that lie within the skin. The pulses heat the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, destroying it without damaging surrounding skin or tissue.

Lets take a look at how laser hair removal works:

Human hairs are made up of 3 distinguishable components: the bulb at the root of the hair follicle that develops hair, the shaft, and the hair follicle itself. Both the bulb and the shaft are imbedded within the skin, leaving only the hair visible to the naked eye. For semi permanent hair removal, the hair follicle must be eliminated along with its germinating centers that are in the bulb. Hair can be destroyed only during the active phase of the growth cycle.

Therefore, because of these staggered growth cycles, patients usually require a number of treatments over time for long-term hair removal resolutions. Hair will continue to grow after your treatment. Anybody who tells you that optimum results can be attained in just one or two times under the laser is simply not telling the truth.

Here Is The Good News About Laser Hair Removal:

? Laser hair removal is non-invasive which does not require needles or messy chemical creams.

? It is a smoother, more gentle way to dispatch unwanted hair, with dependable results.

? Since many hundreds if not thousands of hairs can be lasered in a single session, big expanses like the back and shoulders, legs and arms can be treated at one time.

? Considered safe if performed properly.

Would You Like To Know The Boundaries Of Laser Hair Removal?

? Exact rates and frequency on hairs growing back have not been precisely established and cannot be predicted.

? Most usually laser hair removal is not as efficient on gray hairs and red or blonde hair.

? It must be used very judiciously (if at all) on darker skin tones or on patients who suntan regularly. The shin could get discolored patches.

All in all the technology is getting better all the time and prices are getting more competitive. If it is what your heart desiresWhy not? Indulge yourself. Dont you deserve it?

What You Should Know About Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal has seen a huge increase in popularity in recent years, mainly because it is a relatively safe way to remove unwanted body hair. Until recently, it was best for those with light skin and dark hair. But with the advent of the new YAG laser line and the reinvention of the IPL, even those with darker skin and hair can get excellent results with laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal has become such a popular alternative to shaving, waxing and creams because unwanted hair is permanently removed or reduced with treatment. Plus it is a relatively painless procedure and the costs have decreased dramatically as the technology continues to improve.

If you are considering laser hair removal as an option, then you should definitely do some research, especially if you are a darker skinned individual, because the options vary by individual organization. Although the treatment does not normally take much time, it depends on the amount of hair you want removed, where you want it removed from, and the skin type. So it could take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.

Laser hair removal works by the use of a low energy laser that disables hair follicles. Typically, the laser is absorbed by the darker material, the hair, in fair skinned individuals. This disables the hair follicles, resulting in permanent hair removal or reduced hair growth. Recently, the procedure has been adapted for darker skinned individuals also.

If you opt for laser hair removal, you will most likely need multiple sessions because hair grows in cycles. This means that some of the hair that you want removed may not be in the growth phase during the time of your first treatment. Thus, it will need to be removed later once it is in the growth phase.

Though laser hair removal is relatively painless, you may experience a bit of discomfort from the procedure. Usually, the only discomfort is similar to mild sunburn, and you would treat it as such - using cool compresses and moisturizers. If there are any blisters, you should apply a topical antibiotic until they disappear. Also, your skin should be protected from the sun using sunblock for about 6 weeks after your laser hair removal treatment.

By: Deirdre Jones

The Alexandrite Laser Hair Removal Option

The Alexandrite laser is one of the newer forms of laser hair removal on the market but is also one of the most widely used laser hair removal technologies being used currently.

It is useful for removing relatively large amounts of unwanted hair but is generally limited to treating people with relatively light skin tones and dark hair.

A light-skinned, dark haired person generally sees the best results. People with light or grey hair are not considered ideal candidates since these two types of hair are very difficult to treat.

As a relatively new hair removal option, the Alexandrite laser doesn't have as much research available as the Ruby laser.

Unlike a hair removal option like Electrolysis which can achieve permanent hair removal, the Alexandrite laser might offer a person long term hair reduction or even permanent hair reduction.

One benefit of the Alexandrite laser over a process like Electrolysis is the efficiency of the treatment in terms of the amount of unwanted hair that can be removed at one time.

While Electrolysis treats hairs individually, laser treatment like the Alexandrite enables the practitioner to deal with multiple hairs simultaneously.

All things being equal, your choice of treatment option might depend on the amount of unwanted hair you want removed and how much time and money you have to spend on the treatment.

The Nd YAG Laser Hair Removal Option

The Neodymium: Yttrium Aluminum Garnet laser is also commonly known as the Nd YAG Laser. It is a newer form of laser hair removal treatment than the Ruby, Alexandrite and Diode lasers so less long term research is available on its ability to remove unwanted hair long term.

Nd YAG lasers are not only used for hair removal but in some cases are used for tattoo and pigmented lesion treatment.

Nd YAG has a long wavelength compared to other laser hair removal options. Longer wavelengths such as the one provided by the Nd YAG laser results in less energy being absorbed by the skin than with other laser options.

Before Nd YAG laser treatment occurs, the patient has a carbon-based lotion spread on the area to be treated that is used to absorb most of the laser energy.

Anyone like myself who has ever had pulsed light hair removal treatment is familiar with the clear gel that is applied to their skin that is used to cool the skin to avoid burning.

As with other laser hair removal options, the success of hair removal and possible side effects of the hair removal will vary by patient. Also, the skill of the practitioner will also go a long way in determining your success or lack thereof.

Laser Hair Removal Chicago by Matt Hudson

With the fashionable hair free times we live in people are looking to find the best methods for permanent hair removal. As with other cities there are plenty of Chicago laser hair removal centers. An increasing number of people are feeling that when it comes to excessive body hair removal, laser hair removal is the way to go.

If you are looking for the best place to get laser hair removal Chicago style that even Al Capone would go for, you'll need to search the web to find out other peoples experiences.

Various types of lasers are used in the process and may include the Nd:Yag Cool Glide laser and the GentleLase alexandrite laser. Laser hair removal is generally regarded as a hair reduction technique and usually takes several treatments to get best results. This is because the hair follicles must be treated when they are in their growth phase. As hair grows in cycles, typically only 30% of hair cells will be growing at any time. Darker course hair tends to respond best, with blonde and red hair generally not responding as well to treatment.

Costs of using Chicago laser hair removal centers don't tend to be any higher than any other cities in the U.S. Prices will depend on what area you are getting treated and more importantly the size of the area. Keep in mind that several laser treatments will probably be needed on most areas and thus the cost can multiply too. Whether it's on men or women: leg hair, back hair, chest, arm, and bikini or just about anywhere else, laser hair removal seems to be the way of the future.

There are several Chicago laser hair removal centers that advertise on the web. It would be a good idea to check them out and compare them to get a better idea of what services they offer and also their terms and pricing.

If you are looking for long lasting hair removal options and you live in Chicago laser hair removal may be what you seek. It is probably best to find an established and respected centre that specializes in laser hair removal and has fully trained and qualified technicians.

Where is It Safe to Use and Does My Insurance Provide Coverage

Laser hair removal is safer and now more affordable than ever. It is typically a rather tolerable procedure for patients. At this time, short-term data indicates that laser hair treatment is routinely healthy. Laser hair removal is not harmful as long as it is done correctly and cautiously. It is acceptable to use on all spots of the body. Laser hair removal is quickly becoming the method of choice for permanent hair removal for both men and women. The laser employed for the procedure is a precise surgical instrument that vaporizes and excises tissue with minimal deterioration.

One place to use this treatment is on your face. Facial hair removal has never been easier. No one wants to have to walk around with facial hair and feel shameful in between hair removal appointments. With the evolvement of laser technology, removing facial hair has become very easy. In facial hair removal, a low energy laser beam is directed towards a group of hair follicles. Permanent facial hair removal is dependant on the experience of the technician, not necessarily on quantity of procedures he or she has done. Facial hair removal is becoming favored for both males and females.

Wondering about how to pay for your procedure? Insurance companies usually do not provide reimbursement for laser hair treatment. Beauty salons have been on the hair-shrinkage gravy train for years, and many upscale spas provide deals for laser hair removal combined with other services. Repeated treatments can provide up to 90 percent hair reduction, so over the long run you will save money by not needing to pay for razors and shaving cream.

Laser hair removal is the safe and effective solution to removing unwanted body hair. Laser hair removal is an effective method than can bring amazing results, and is the most used hair removal system of the new millennium. Deciding to start treatments for laser hair removal is a big step. Only your physician can help you decide if laser hair treatment is appropriate for you.

Laser Hair Removal by Paul Ghossain

Laser hair removal can be a great advantage for some, and an unfortunate disadvantage for others. However, before throwing in the towel, why not find out if you are one of the lucky ones that can benefit from laser hair removal.

Firstly, let's take a look at how the laser hair removal treatment works, as well as what benefits this hair removal treatment offers if you are the right candidate.

Removing hair with a laser is actually a simple and painless routine. Quite simply put; a Laser is activated on the skin surface where the candidate wishes to have their hair removed. Each laser burst lasts for about a fraction of a second. It is in this time period that the energy of the laser passes through the hair follicle and damages it, thus preventing the hair from growing there again.

With some people, one treatment can stop the hair from growing again. For others, more than one treatment is needed. Imagine having never to shave or wax that area ever again or at least for much longer periods of time in between treatments.

So what makes you the right candidate in order to forego a successful laser hair removal treatment? Generally people with light colored hair and dark skin are not the right candidates for laser hair removal. However, to really find out if this type of hair removal treatment can work for you, your best bet would be to visit a fully qualified laser hair removal practitioner so that they can give you their professional opinion.

It is important to understand that not everyone experiences permanent hair removal through laser treatment. Some will and others won't. There is never a guarantee. If a practitioner ever tells you otherwise, you would be wise to think twice about using his or her service.

Body Hair Removal Your Choices

If you suffer from unwanted hair and are looking for a body hair removal solution there are several options that you can choose from. These body hair removal options will safely remove the hair and in some cases can produce a permanent hair removal solution.

The first body hair removal option that is available to both men and women is shaving. Shaving is a very popular method of removing unwanted body hair but the downside is that hair can grow back very quickly.

Using a depilatory product is another form of body hair removal. This process chemically dissolves the hair but as with shaving the hair will return. Another downside to using a depilatory product is that many of these creams can cause irritations and skin tests are always recommended prior to use.

Waxing is another very popular method of body hair removal but as with shaving this is not a permanent hair removal solution. Waxing is also very painful but re-growth is slower.

Electrolysis as a form of body hair removal can in some cases prove to be a permanent hair removal solution. An electrical current is used to destroy hair follicles but several sessions are required and the results are not guaranteed. Electrolysis can also be very painful and only small areas can be treated at a time.

The last choice available for body hair removal is lazer hair removal. Using a laser hair removal treatment destroys hair follicles and results in permanent hair removal. A laser hair removal treatment can be used all over the body and large areas can be treated at a time. The only drawback with this body hair removal solution is the cost of laser hair removal which can be quite expensive. With lazer hair removal there is minimal pain unlike electrolysis which can be very painful and after a laser hair removal treatment the skin will heal quite quickly, usually within 20 minutes.

How Effective are Laser Hair Removal Treatments For Women

Do you have a lot of unsightly and unwanted hair that you just can't get rid of? Have you tried shaving cream and razors, hair removal creams and hot wax and all you got out of using them were nicks, scars and burnt skin? To get rid of unwanted hair for good, try electrolysis, a laser hair removal treatment. But how effective is this laser hair removal treatment for women?

The effectiveness of a laser hair removal treatment is dependent on how much hair can be removed on a patient. Bear in mind that the procedure involves lasers, which make laser hair removal treatments strictly regulated. To ensure the safety of patients, a laser hair removal technician or doctor can only remove so much hair at a given time. However, if the hair problem is confined to only a small area, laser hair removal treatment for women should be very effective.

A patient's hair type is also a factor that can affect the effectiveness of a laser hair removal treatment. It is always best to consult with a doctor about the best course of action to take for any hair problem.

Of course, skill also has a lot to do with the effectiveness of a laser hair removal treatment for women. For a successful hair removal procedure, go to a doctor who knows more about the procedure than say, a salon worker. A laser hair removal treatment is a medical procedure, thus only a licensed and trained doctor will be able to successfully perform the procedure. For doctors who perform laser hair removal procedures, visit the website of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery at www.aslms.org.

Pubic Laser Hair Removal

It is now possible to remove your pubic hair using pubic laser hair removal. The removal of pubic hair is basically dependant on many factors like hair strand thickness and density, skin color and hair color. It is the physician who will evaluate these choices and choose the best laser system for each patient. Thats why it is better to approach the best physician for your pubic laser hair removal as they will know the best choice for you.

Of all the methods of pubic hair removal, it is considered that pubic laser hair removal is one of the best ways to remove pubic hair. This is because the bikini area invites folliculitis, infection and inflammation of hair follicles. This often leads to itchy and painful lesions and sometimes secondary hyper pigmentation and darkening of the skin.

With laser hair removal, hair growth is reduced or eliminated while folliculitis diminished or stopped. Some laser systems are also beneficial in reducing hyper pigmentation and persistent skin redness which occurred from earlier attacks of folliculitis. So it is the advantage of having a bikini area that is devoid of hair, discoloration and irritation that entices people to opt for pubic laser hair removal.

When compared to other forms of hair removal like electrolysis, waxing and depilatory creams, pubic laser hair removal accomplishes a near permanent reduction in pubic hair. Moreover the procedure is quick and easily tolerated. The hair that remains also reduces in diameter to make them less of a cosmetic issue while reducing the irritation of hair follicle.

So it can be seen that pubic laser hair removal is a procedure that is carried out with high patient satisfaction. And as lasers are medical devices needing high level of expertise to use it, pubic laser hair removal has to be done in a physician office that specializes in the procedure for best effects, and safety through the procedure.

1. Laser hair removal is best for dark hair with light skin but it does not mean that you are not the right candidate for the laser hair removal. You should visit a dermatologist before going for a laser hair removal and you should collect information on laser hair removal from the manufacturers or direct from their site. However, some dermatologists can suggest you some alternatives. If you have light color hair then artificial hair darkening is advisable followed by laser.

2. It is very important to have a consultation with a dermatologist. You should meet the technician and request him or her to perform a test pulse. You should find a clinic, which is dedicated to your needs. Laser hair removal treatment is very particular depending on the type of skin and hair. Find a clinic with a friendly and informative staff that makes you feel comfortable.

3. Avoid waxing and tweezering for at least 6 weeks before your laser hair removal treatment. You are advised not to remove hairs by the roots.

Laser hair removal is a painless process. If there is a little pain, it is certainly bearable. If you cannot bear the pain during laser hair removal you should tell your technician so that he or she can supply you with numbing creams or proper coolants. Your feedback about pain will help the technician to adjust the intensity of the laser.

However, Permanent Laser Hair Removal is one of the long lasting hair removal methods. However, re growth can occur after laser hair removal, which may be lighter in color.

Disadvantages of laser hair removal:

1) A long-term data regarding safety, effectiveness and response rate of laser hair removal has not yet been established.

2) Sometimes regrowth takes place even after laser hair removal, which indicates laser hair removal is not 100% permanent.

3) Laser hair removal is generally not effective on gray, red, blonde or unpigmented hair.

4) Laser hair removal must be used very carefully because improper treatment can cause skin discoloration, burns, lesions or patchy regrowth.

5) Laser hair removal requires eye protection and skin cautiousness.

Laser facial hair removal is easy and effective

Laser facial hair removal is the option preferred by many people around the world for removing unwanted hairs in the face. Other methods of facial hair removal such as shaving, plucking and using depilatory creams can be irritating and messy. To avoid such discomforts with these methods you can go for laser facial hair removal.

Before you go for a laser facial hair removal kindly consult your physician who can identify the best type of laser facial hair removal for your type of skin. You can opt for any laser. The type of laser that is to be used for facial hair removal has to be determined based on the type of skin a person has. This will be done by the doctor prior to the laser facial hair removal.

The laser facial hair removal is more gentle and non invasive. It is a long lasting solution for permanent removal of facial hairs. Laser facial hair removal can also be done with the laser light based devices such as Light Sheer Diode laser system and the IPL. These devices provide excellent results for laser facial hair removal.

Some precautions have to be taken before you go for a laser facial hair removal treatment. The patient is advised to stay away from sun light for at least a week prior to the laser hair removal session. The laser device has to be set correctly for the skin color of the person. For this a patch test is done in a small area before implementing the entire procedure.

How Laser Hair Removal Machines Work

Laser hair removal has become so popular that it is now the worlds second most frequently performed cosmetic procedure, and has become a bread-and-butter business for many dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, and laser hair removal system manufacturers since the first such system received FDA approval in 1995.

Laser hair removal destroys the hair-growing capacity of hair follicles by targeting them with pulses of extremely high intensity light. Because of the increasing demand for laser hair removal procedures, more and more laser hair removal machines are being developed for the market, but no laser hair removal machine may be sold without first receivng the FDA's stamp of approval.
The First Laser Hair Removal Machine

The original laser hair removal machine, the Thermolase Corporations Soft Light Hair Removal System, received FDA approval in 1995, but soon proved ineffective because it had been put on the market without being thoroughly tested. It was advertised as providing permanent painless hair removal, but eventually became the subject of a class action suit because of the inaccuracy of its claims. The suit was settled out of court, but Thermolase no longer manufactures laser hair removal machines.

Next Generation Laser Hair Removal Machines
One current laser hair removal machine, which operates by aiming a long pulse of laser light into the subdermal skin which holds the hair follicles, is the Alexandrite laser. The heat from the laser damages the hair follicles which are in the active hair growth phase, so that the hairs stop developing.

Diode lasers are laser hair removal machines constructed of miniature diodes or semi-conductors arranged to produce light. The construction of the diode laser means that it can create a longer wavelength of laser light energy, which is very effective in treating dark-complected people for hair removal.

Some dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons favor the Q-Switched Nd: YAG laser, because it can produce two lightwaves of varying lengths. For strong penetration, to affect the deep hair follicles, it uses infrared light; for the follicles nearer to the skins surface, it uses green light. It delivers either wavelength of light in rapid pulses.

The LuxuryPro laser hair removal machine is inexpensive, safe, and versatile. Ruby lasers utilize a short pulse red light to target the dark pigment in hair follicles.

The most important factor in a successful laser hair removal treatment is the skill of the person administering it, and the variety of machines he or she has available to tailor the treatment to the specific needs of the client.

Laser Hair Removal a New Technology to Eliminate the Undesired Hair Coverage

In general, the laser hair removal is a relatively new medical procedure that allows men and women to reduce or eliminate the undesired hair on many areas of their body.

This treatment produces long term results and the hair coverage can be removed . However, a tiny hair re-grow is possible, easily removable using other procedures. For a moment laser hair removal technology works the best when removing black and brown hair. It is still very hard to treat and many times quite impossible to use the laser hair removal technology on very light shades of hair such as light blonde, red, white and grey. But as technology go further, more and more possibilities are available.

Generally speaking, the laser hair removal is the new technology that is good to destroy the hair follicles without damage to skin. The possibility to cause skin damages is very low, because the energy produced by beam of laser is customized based on your type of hair and skin pigmentation.

However, the laser hair removal isn't completely painless. Patients can feel slight stings during the procedure and skin goes pink and lasts that way for about one to two days causing minor a discomfort. One after another, patients will not experience same pain comparing with traditional waxing or epilating methods. For patients with very low pain thresholds an anaesthesia cream can be applied on the skin before treatment.

If you need more information, there are many clinics that offer laser hair removal opportunities and many doctors that can tell you what kind of the laser hair removal procedure is the most appropriate for you.

Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is considered to be one of the safest methods for permanent hair removal. In this method, a low-energy laser is applied over the unwanted hair growing areas. The hair follicles in these areas will get damaged by the pulsating light emitted by the laser beam. The hair gets burnt out without damaging adjacent skin and tissues.

Usually a patch test will be performed on the clients to verify that the correct laser and intensity are being used. A qualified professional will do this patch test prior to the laser hair removal procedure.

The main benefit of having laser hair removed is that it can be performed on a large area of the body in one sitting. Moreover, this procedure doesnt require anesthesia, as this operation can be performed with minimal discomfort. Simple local or topical anesthetic will be used on the persons who experience a higher degree of discomfort.

After completing several treatments, nearly 95 percent of unwanted hairs can be eliminated. Sometimes the hair growth is noticed in the treated area, which will be very coarse. The main advantage of this hair removal method is that it doesnt require hospitalization, medications, needles or follow-up medical care.

Immediately after treatment with laser hair removal, mild reddening may occur at the place of treatment. This will go away within 24 hours. The laser treated hairs will shed within 1-2 weeks after laser hair removal treatment.

10 Things You Must Know About Getting A Good Laser Hair Removal Service

Laser hair removal is supposed to be a safe process, yet dubious claims and inappropriate equipment still lead to scams and injuries. Consumers themselves must know the ins and outs of laser hair removal to prevent themselves from getting cheated. The following points will aid you in making a proper decision to get yourself ready at the clinic.

1) The sensitivity of your skin. A skin can be too delicate to be damaged instead of getting treated. A technology called CoolGlide can treat all known skin types. Consult a professional to examine and discuss over your skin and infection issues prior to treatment.

2) The degree of discomfort. Do not believe in a o-pain process. All treatment are bound to make you uncomfortable. However, it's not anywhere near the whip-lash pain of waxing.

3) The possibility of regrowth. Laser hair removal cannot possibly stop hair growth, though it can reduce growth rate permanently after hair cells are killed. If a practitioner claims to eradicate hair growth completely, you should ask for testimonials and get their proof upfront; it's in their benefit to tell you their achievement.

4) The cost. Depending on the area size treated, it could amount from US$25 to US$250. You may compare the price ranges of several services to get a good gauge. Ask for outstanding reasons that could factor into the overall cost, particular the overheads for their equipment.

5) Aging equipment. Ask for the type of laser used, whether it is effective, how long the practitioners have used the equipment and if there are newer models. You have a right to know.

6) Multiple treatment plans. It's quite likely to return for several treatments within 2 weeks, and then another separate session if necessary within a year to eliminate regrowth, but asking you to come back regularly without the fullest and sincere explanation on your case is simply an indication of ineffectiveness. Beware of such tactics that forces you to pay a lump sum in full. You deserve a good laser treatment as it is.

7) Safety measures. Laser, if abused, can cause damaging effects. Check what precautions are taken, like applying a layer of protective cream over the skin or wearing eye goggles.

8) The practitioner. Who is actually doing the treatment? The experienced doctor or some 'assistant'? Check that the practitioner is trained, qualified and certified to carry out treatments.

9) Ask for a test treatment. This is a simple request which practitioners have no difficulties to fulfill. Cost will still be incurred, but your initial experience with laser hair removal gets you in the know of how a typical treatment works and in tune with the clinical environment.

10) Get written information. Get a written agreement on all obligations, commitment and breakdown of cost from the practitioner to ensure that he stays true to the standard of service provided.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal certainly seems like the answer to all unwanted hair problems, but watch out - it is not for everyone, and it may not be right for you. Educate yourself before you decide to have laser hair removal performed on you.

Is laser hair removal right for me?

You need to satisfy certain requirements to become a good candidate for laser hair removal. First, your hair must be darker than your skin. But you cannot be too dark, either, because you will tend to absorb too much laser energy (which is harmful). Are you tanned but have light hair? You probably cannot undergo laser hair removal. If you are tanned but have dark hair, dermatologists advise that you wait until your tan fades before undergoing the treatment.

Can I afford laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments. Expect to pay over $2,000 in total for most common areas. Bigger laser hair removal centers usually charge about $500 per session. You usually have to come back for four sessions. If you need treatment in larger areas such as your entire back or all of your legs, expect to pay more. Go to laser treatment salons and compare prices before signing up.

When shopping for a hair removal center, seek the highest quality rather than lowest cost. Remember that laser hair removal is a medical treatment, so you should take it seriously and not scrimp on it. Most established laser hair removal centers with excellent reputations are a bit expensive, but they will more likely be able to provide you with individual attention, better facilities, and an experienced and highly-trained professional staff.

If I undergo laser hair removal, will all my unwanted hair disappear and never come back?

It is impossible to predict the exact results of laser hair removal, as they vary from patient to patient. Different people require different numbers of sessions and intensities. Established laser hair removal clinics usually do not guarantee results but do their best to help you achieve the best possible results.

Everything You Wanted To Know About Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is the best available method for hair
removal because of the several advantages offered by this
method. Laser hair removal method scores over other methods
of hair removal for its ease of use, less time-consuming,
little or no side effects and a long lasting treatment for
removing unwanted hair from the face and the rest of the
body.

A scientist who accidentally exposed his arm to 692 diode
pumped YAG for a few seconds discovered laser hair removal
treatment in late 1970's. The exposure burned off the hair
but did not damage the skin. After few weeks, the scientist
noticed a bald patch on his arm. Further research and
development resulted in the birth of a revolutionary new
method to get rid off unwanted hair. Since then, Laser Hair
removal has become popular with both men and women of all
age.

Advantages of Laser Hair Removal

The relief from the age-old hair removal methods like
plucking, waxing, shaving is temporary. In the new hair
removal method of electrolysis, each hair is treated
separately. This makes the process time consuming and
restricted to small areas. The inconvenience faced in the
old methods has made the Laser Hair Removal the most
popular hair removal technique. Most of the cosmetologists
prefer laser hair removal to other methods of hair removal.
Here are some advantages of Laser Hair Removal:

1. Ease of Use - Laser treatment uses the principle of
light energy absorbed by dark matter such as hair. An
experienced laser technician directs and fires a laser beam
at the area of hair growth thereby burning off the unwanted
hair. Laser hair removal method is not painful like waxing.
Users have compared it to a tingling sensation like a small
pinch.

2. Less time - Unlike electrolysis that is painful and
takes a lot of time, laser hair removal is faster. With
laser hair removal process, facial hair can be removed in
about 45 minutes. Larger body parts take a longer time.

3. Few side effects - Unlike waxing or hair removing
creams, laser hair removal treatment does not cause skin
irritation or any other side effects.

4. Long Lasting - Laser hair removal treatment is long
lasting than waxing, shaving or hair removal creams which
have to be repeated every few weeks.

The wavelength required by laser to achieve efficient
treatment is in the range of 670 to 890 nanometers. The
treatment includes wearing protective eyewear. Usually,
more than a single treatment is required since hair is best
removed when it is in the active growth phase.

Laser Hair Removal Am I a Good Candidate

How Laser Hair Removal works

A laser emits an invisible beam that penetrates the skin around the hair. Because of the dark pigments in the hair, the energy from the laser is absorbed into the hair. The energy from the laser converts into heat, damaging the function of the hair, and the ability for the follicle to grow hair.

Why Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a fast and effective way to remove hair. It can treat large areas rapidly. Over a period of time all the targeted hair becomes deteriorated and the hair ceases to grow.

How often do I have to get the laser hair removal procedure done?

Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal, while safe when done correctly can cause the skin to burn. The energy from the laser is targeted by color. Darker colors attract more of the lasers energy. This becomes a problem for people whos skin color is close to the color of their hair. The laser energy is no longer just absorbed into the hair follicle, but is absorbed into the skin as well, which can cause burning, scarring and damage.

The larger the difference or contrast between the color and your skin, the better a candidate you are for laser hair removal.

What areas can I treat with Laser Hair Removal?

Any area on the body is treatable, except for close to the eye area. The most common area are the face, upper lip, chest, periareolar, underarms, back, chest, abdomen, bikini area, and legs.

The difference between Laser hair removal and pulsed light treatment

Pulsed light treatment is not actually a form of laser. Using intense high energy light it produces the same effect as laser hair removal. These devices are harder to adjust to each patients skin and hair type and therefore require larger expertise to use than laser hair removal.

Adverse reactions to laser hair removal

The worst case scenario with laser hair removal is damage to the surrounding skin. This can result in pigment changes in the skin. Skin may become lighter or darker. Change in skin color is usually temporary and fades after a few months. The darker ones skin is the more susceptible they are to adverse reactions when undergoing laser hair removal.
